Title: Falling For A Donovan (The Donovans Book 14)

Genre: African American Romance

Synopsis: When all hell breaks loose…
Bailey Donovan’s family has been dealt a serious blow. While her cousin’s wife fights for her life, a manhunt has ensued for Roslyn Ausby. Bailey’s twin brother’s wedding plans have been halted by his fiancé’s problematic pregnancy. Her father is still recovering from his heart attack and another cousin is on sabbatical for reasons nobody in the family knows. Now is definitely not the time for Bailey to have urges she’s never before experienced. And it’s certainly not the time for her to fall for a man’s hot kisses and tender caresses—especially, not this man.

It’s good to have someone to hold onto.
Navy SEAL Devlin Bonner’s dark past races to catch up with him, just in time to throw a monkey wrench in the steamy romance he has going with Bailey. While the word “romance” has never been in his vocabulary, the thought of losing Bailey either in this war her family has going or through a secret threatened to be revealed by someone Dev once called a friend, is not acceptable. And for Dev, the unacceptable must always be eliminated.
Will the chances he’s taken to be with Bailey withstand the storm brewing around them, or will Devlin ultimately regret falling for a Donovan?

A. C. Arthur, Author

CH: Today’s Guest Author is A. C. Arthur. She is determined to bring a new edge to romance. Welcome to my blog, A. C.

CH: Since your book involves many family members, was it hard creating believable situations and issues or did you take them from real life and mesh them together?

ACA: I like to use real life situations in each of my books. Whether it’s giving a character some current event to deal with, or a medical condition, or simply having the entire story center around a current topic. It’s important to me to add that touch of reality to all of my stories.

CH: Which book in the series was hardest to write?

ACA: I would say Linc and Jade’s story, Love Me Like No Other. The first book in a series is always tough for me, because I’m trying to lay the groundwork for every book that will follow and create a story that’s captivating enough to keep the reader engaged long enough to wait for the next book. In addition to the first book, the last book to this series was hard for me to write. This time it was nostalgia and a sense of leaving these people that I’ve created behind.

CH: Where did you get the idea for the series?

ACA: When I was younger I loved watching Dynasty. I wanted to create a black family that embodied that same type of prestige.

CH: When you wrote the first book in the series, did you realize it would be a series then? Did you realize the series would last this long?

ACA: In the beginning, there were only meant to be three books. The Triple Threat Donovans. I featured one of the Triple Threat’s (Trent) in a standalone book, Guarding His Body, and then my editor suggested that since we were getting such a good reader response, that I consider expanding the family. I had no idea it would span 10+ years. I kept stopping to write other series, even another genre, but I kept coming right back to The Donovans.

CH: Who in the Donovan family was your favorite character to write?

ACA: Adam Donovan will always be my favorite. He was such an easy going and loving guy that writing him was a breeze.

CH: How do you intertwine the events in each family member’s life into the family as a whole?

ACA: I think of them as a real family first and foremost. They’re a loyal bunch and a tight-knit group, so they’re together often enough to know what’s going on with each other. It helped, in the last five books, to create one plot that would touch every family member. Then I had the space of each book to really delve into how they all reacted to the situation and to bring the family together to ultimately handle the situation.

CH: How much of your leading lady is based on you?

ACA: In Falling For A Donovan, not much. I can be candid and stubborn like Bailey, but that’s about it. She’s more extroverted than I am, which makes her the perfect partner for Devlin.

CH: What kind of feedback are you getting from readers of the book and the series?

ACA: Readers have been waiting for Devlin and Bailey’s story for a long time, so overall they’re happy that the couple is finally together. I think my readers really want the series to continue, but I’m not committed to that at the moment.

CH: Is there a message in this book that you want readers to grasp?

ACA: This book was really about trust. Devlin had been involved with this family for years, but still didn’t trust any of them to really be there for him. Bailey proves him wrong, even though she didn’t trust herself after making mistakes where men were concerned in her past.

CH: Who are some of your writing influences?

ACA: Nora Roberts has always been a favorite of mine and not just for her stories. She’s a professional and writing is her career. I strive for those same things.

CH: What are some of your aspirations as far as the writing profession?

ACA: I’d like to spread my wings a little more, pushing the limits of my writing. I’m pretty comfortable in romance now and I’ve dipped my feet into paranormal and young adult, so I’m ready to see what comes next.

CH: As far as accolades or achievements, what would you say has been your greatest achievement?

ACA: Writing the next book. I don’t take for granted the success of my last book or my first, for that matter. I’m always working to write another great story, so with each book I finish, I count that as my greatest achievement.

CH: What authors do you read? And who are some of your favorites?

ACA: Nora Roberts, Harlan Coben, Sandra Brown, Bernice McFadden, and James Patterson. There are more, but I’ll keep it brief.

CH: Is there a reason why this series has so many books? Since this book ends in a cliffhanger, will there be a Book 15 in this series?

ACA: There are 15 books in this series, the last one will be released on April 6, 2017 and is titled Destiny of a Donovan.

I did not plan to write 15 books until I was on book #10. The first ten books were standalones, connected only by the family members. Books#10-15 are connected by the Secret Son plot that covers the family being taunted, then learning of the Secret Son, establishing who the father is and now dealing with the fall-out from it all. All the cliffhanger questions will be answered in book #15.

There are also Donovan Friends books that feature some of the Donovan Series characters.

CH: For my audience, where is your book sold?

ACA: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. It is only in ebook format right now, but at the end of April, I will be releasing a print book, The Donovans Vol. 4 and it will contain the following stories: In The Arms of A Donovan, Falling For A Donovan and Destiny of A Donovan.

CH: How to Find A. C. Arthur:

CH: Any closing remarks?

ACA: Thank you for this opportunity to talk about a family that I have come to love. Big hugs and thanks to my readers for making this series as popular as it is today. And to new readers who decide to take the chance on starting The Donovans Series, thank you and happy reading!

CH: Thank you so much, A. C. Arthur, for taking time out of your very busy writing schedule to join me and my blog followers.  It has been a real pleasure discussing your book with my audience.  And readers, if you’re like me and would enjoy this book.  I suggest you pick up a copy at your earliest convenience.
