Seven Sentence Sunday

Once Upon a Time

Most of my readers enjoy Seven Sentence Sunday and often request the short stories.

I write a short story using only seven sentences. I also use this as a writing exercise in the writing workshops that I present.

Title: A Closer Relationship With My Father

The young man had gotten into serious trouble and was afraid that his father would be mad at him.

His father saw him upset and crying uncontrollably.

The young man knew that his father would be angry with him—again.

But instead, his father forgave him, and comforted him with a firm hug; after all they had been through a lot.

He put his arms around the young man and told him that they would work it out together.

His dad told him how much he loved him and the young man realized that he and his father now had a better loving and understanding relationship than he had ever imagined.

The young man knew that his communication and relationship with his father was better than ever…his heavenly Father.

The End

Cheryl Holloway, Author

Note: This interview was prior to Leap Year Day 2016.

CH: Welcome, Carol Anderson. She is the main character in The Proposal: A Leap of Faith. My readers and followers would like to find out a little about your life as a character. Let’s begin, since you are in a contemporary romance book tell us about your love life, are you in love and with whom? And how long have you been in a relationship?

CA: Yes, I’m in love with Marvin Brewster. We’ve dated, on and off, for about ten years.

CH: What is your idea of perfect happiness?

CA: Finding a man that I love and who loves me in return, and ultimately, getting married. I’m half way there. I’m so excited. I think, he’s going to propose to me on Leap Year Day. (Carol laughs with joy in her heart and a smile on her face.)

CH: Do you have any secrets?

CA: I just have one secret that I hold near and dear to my heart. It is that I want to get married—sooner, than later.

CH: Wow, that’s a big one. So, do you have any fears?

CA: My only fear is my significant other doesn’t seem to think it’s important.

CH: When and where are you the happiest?

CA: When I’m with Marvin. He makes me smile and makes my heart beat fast. We can be anywhere. He always holds my hand when we are walking. And he gives me the best hugs—ever.

CH: What is your favorite memory?

CA: When me and Marvin were walking in a light rain, holding hands, while laughing and talking. It was a beautiful moment.

CH: What is your favorite flower?

CA: Marvin gave me a single red rose for Valentine’s Day.

CH: What is your favorite possession?

CA: A Tiffany & Co. Heart Tag bracelet engraved with “Will you marry me?”

CH: What is your favorite pastime?

CA: I would say going to dinner with Marvin.

CH: Wow, every question I ask, you refer to your life with Marvin. I take it, he’s very important to you.

CA: Yes, indeed. I love him with all of my heart and I can hardly wait until we get married and start a family.

CH: Let’s change the subject a moment and talk about your author. What is Cheryl like?

CA: Cheryl is a nice person and a talented writer, but sometimes I have to make sure she doesn’t diss my man. I think Cheryl doesn’t like Marvin.

CH: Oh, really. Well, since you seem to have a one-tract mind, this interview is almost over. Do you have any closing comments?

CA: Yes, love is often the fruit of marriage. So, I just want Cheryl to write about our June wedding with 250 guests, a made to order chocolate wedding cake and hundreds of pale pink roses—everywhere. I think that would be absolutely stunning. Don’t you?

CH: Yes…Well, thank you, Carol, for giving this interview. And one thing is for sure. You are definitely in love with Marvin. And readers, if you would enjoy this book.  I suggest you pick up a copy at your earliest convenience.

Cheryl Holloway’s Personal Writing Thoughts for the New Year

Some of my fans and readers are on the One Year Book Plan. If you are you are, you should have written 8 pages or 2,000 words. Yay!

Some of my fans and readers are on the Write When You Can Plan, who tend to write most on weekends.

My thoughts are this, “I don’t care when or how much you write, as long as you write and you recognize that ‘Writers write.’”

Cheryl Holloway’s Personal Writing Thoughts

I firmly believe in My 3 P’s of Writing—passion, persistence, and practice. Here are my definitions:

Passion is a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something.

Persistence is firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.

Practice is repeated exercise in or performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it.

Writing can be a lonely situation.

My downfall of writing is that I am alone most of the time, but at least I’m in good company. Since I am an introvert, it doesn’t really matter to me. When I come up for air, I visit with my writer friends, family and others. I have a sign in my office that reads: I live in my own little world, but it’s okay…they know me here!

When all else fails…I am still a Writer!

To My Blog Friends…May you continue to read many blogs and remain a fan of my blog.

Social Media Plan-Increase the number of subscribers on my blog, CherylHolloway.net/blog.

Continue writing more novels and short stories.

This is Important. So, here’s what I want you to do:

Today, I want you to take some time to think about what went well this year for your writing. Then, I want you to think about what advice you can give to other writers. And finally, I want you to think about what your big plans are for 2017.

There are 525,600 minutes in a year. How many minutes will you spend writing in 2017? My 2017 Wish for You “is you will find the time to write the book you were meant to write during 2017. And you can make 2017 your best writing year, EVER!”

Labor Day_2016

Labor Day is always held on the first Monday of September. It was originally organized to celebrate various labor organizations in the United States, so it is distinctly an American holiday. Labor Day is generally considered the end of the summer and a last chance for family trips or outdoor events before fall and winter.

How Ironic…Amazon Bookstores

Banner Header_2016

       In My Opinion                                                         Expect Opinion

Amazon Store

How Ironic…Amazon Bookstores

Amazon was founded with the ambition of putting brick and mortar bookstores out of business. How ironic…Amazon is now opening its third brick and mortar bookstore—first, Seattle, then, San Diego and now, Portland.

In the last five years or so, they’ve driven Borders out of business, along with a lot of mom-and-pop/local bookstores. Barnes and Noble is the largest U.S. brick and mortar bookstore still in existence. Is Barnes and Noble in jeopardy, too? Who knows?

I heard that Amazon is planning to open even more brick and mortar bookstores. What is Amazon up to? Nobody really knows, but they are getting rich from writers and readers…is this a Monopoly® game? Should I pass Go and collect $200?

Well, I’m going to check out one of the Amazon bookstores.

I’m going to an Amazon brick and mortar bookstore on a scavenger hunt to find…a Cheryl Holloway book!

What’s your opinion on the topic?
